WHO ARE YOU

Hi there!

I’m a writer and work in education/tech. I grew up on Cape Cod and now live on the South Shore with my family. I take on select clients to help with web content management and marketing.

WHAT DO YOU WRITE

I write novels, usually suspense or thrillers with a female protagonist, and usually set at least partially on Cape Cod. Oh, and usually at least one character is quite deranged.

I studied journalism and dabbled in freelance writing but after I graduated I was too poor to work for a newspaper or publication and live in the city, which was nonnegotiable, so I took on corporate jobs for a while, writing where I could.

I was in grad school for publishing and writing when I started writing fiction. A cute little story about my first novel, The Hollow: It was originally an ebook project and I never meant it to see the light of day. But at 30, I went through chemo/radiation/surgery/hell, all while grappling with my mother’s terminal diagnosis of the same disease. So, that book turned out to be a lifeline, a nice diversion from my bald head (and my mom’s). I didn’t have to talk about being sick and instead could talk about creepy little mean girls in the woods. Anyway, I’m still proud of that little book, which I initially coded as an ebook myself for the project.

My next novel, The Sham, came out in 2023 and it’s about the worst roommate ever. It’s set in Southie + the Cape, was published by Woodhall Press and Penguin Random House and was nominated for a Pushcart. I’m working (slowwwwwly) on two other novels as I navigate work and life and a new puppy. Each book takes a million years because I teach and have a family and lack the funds to live out my dream of writing all day in a little surf shack on the water in Wellfleet with my dog at my feet. It’s kind of annoying this hasn’t yet come to fruition, but a bitch can dream.

Let me see your impressive Credentials

I received my MA in Publishing and Writing (concentrating in digital publishing) from Emerson College and received my BA, summa cum laude, in Journalism from UMass Amherst’s Commonwealth Honors College. I LOVED school.

Before writing/teaching, I freelanced for various publications and worked in digital marketing/e-commerce for several institutions, including the City of Boston, Emerson College, Boston Interiors, and Forrester Research.
